It’s March in Japan, and that can only mean one thing: The weather getting warmer, and the whole country going on hanami watch. Yes, alongside the usual weather forecasts on morning and evening news shows, there’s also the pink forecast — the expected dates when the sakura, the cherry blossoms, will begin blooming and when they will achieve Peak Bloom.
So yesterday the wife and I headed out to the park across the road from our apartment building, to see what we could see. Unfortunately only a couple trees of a very early cherry blossom varieties were blooming as of now, but there were a few other perennials around the park, giving me a chance to test out the new camera kit with flowers. Think it turned out pretty alright.
Cherry blossom season is always a good time of the year: warming up after winter, it’s a great chance to head out and see the world begin to bloom once again. It’s also warm but not Japanese-summer-bad.
Expect to see plenty of those photos here this year. Stay tuned.
