Met this guy over the weekend at the Shinagawa Aquarium. I was on the lookout anyway because the wife loves sea turtles, so seeing one in the large main aquarium area was a nice surprise. But that was just the beginning — I love the attitude you can just sense through the glass and get a glimpse of here. He seemed to be completely unfazed by his lot in life — except, perhaps, by the moray eels he wanted to get Out Of The Way so he could just Take A Nap in those rocks over there. He’s not worried about the throngs of families and little kids passing by, he just wants those damn eels to get off his couch so he can put the golf on and take a nap.
I guess what I’m saying is I felt incredibly strong dad vibes with this guy, and at that time and place, I absolutely understood.
There’s another couple of stories I could tell, too: heading out with the wife and turning a quick lunch and a question mark of an afternoon into a walk through Family Crowds at the aquarium. And it was fun! And more importantly, she wanted to give me a chance to test out my new camera some more. I’ll write more on that particular topic and decision soon, but needless to say: I’m very, very happy — even with burst shooting, even in low light, and even as I am still trying to learn my way around the Fujifilm body.
If you want to see more from the aquarium, my full set is available here via Flickr.
